Are you thinking of sharing your life with a minion? Did you adopt one? Rest a day, and you’ll be sure to enrich your life in many ways, as felines are very affectionate and fun.
They also adapt well and are easy to maintain, but you don’t have to trust each other. Pay attention to these seven common mistakes when raising a cat.
A cat is not the same as a dog
Although it may seem like a no-brainer, sometimes you forget that a cat is not the same as a dog. Both can be very homemade and affectionate, but minions tend to have a more independent personality.
The difference between felines and canids is in its very nature. In the wild, the former are solitary hunters who do not usually cluster into herds, as do the latter.
This does not mean that they are indifferent to affection. If a cat seeks companionship or peeking, it is because it felt at ease and loved. In short, both are great adventure companions, but it is worth considering their differences.
The importance of educating them appropriately
When a cat becomes part of your life, a bond begins to be created. This must be positive so that it perceives your presence as something pleasant. How can you do that? Well, playing with him often, correcting him when he has inappropriate behaviour and, above all, avoiding any show of violence.
Cats do not respond to positive reinforcement and dogs, although in specific situations it can work. For example, try to give him a prize every time he quickly returns from one of his walks in the yard and prevents him from severing too much time out.
The truth is that a feline’s education is more complicated than that of a dog since they are less hierarchical animals and that they do not respond so well to orders. That’s why you’ll have to earn them with effort and affection from the first moment they get home.
Eye! Adopting them too soon is one of the most common mistakes
A fairly common mistake is wanting to get them home too soon. It is recommended that adoption occurs after weeding when the child has – at least – a month to live. During this period, you will learn the fundamental behaviours of your species with your mother.
It is possible to do this earlier when, for some reason, the mother is away, but taking extreme precautions and with adequate feeding. Ideally, in this case, they are with the protector for the first few weeks.
If the puppy has not yet finished its vaccination period, you should keep it away from other sick cats or dogs. And most of all, take him to the specialist regularly to make sure everything’s okay.

Not vaccinating or deworming them is putting your health at risk
It is essential to follow the recommended vaccine schedule. Don’t think that being small and not going outside has gotten rid of specific diseases or parasites. Nothing ensures he can’t get any ailments, even if he stays home all day.
Dewoparitation must not be neglected either. Cats may have external parasites, such as ticks and fleas, or internal ones, such as intestinal worms. External care, through repellent products, is necessary for the hottest months. On the other hand, internal depolarisation is recommended every three months.
Help them remove hairballs
Cats are spotless animals, which are continually grooming. However, this brings them a small problem. They usually regularly ingest hairballs, which cause digestive issues such as vomiting, constipation or diarrhoea.
There are many products available to solve this problem. You can also use a special diet, with a feed that warns of these kinds of inconveniences.
Sterilization is recommended
In females, the breeding period occurs between spring and summer. During this stage, they go into heat for a week, then rest for two. And so on. If the cat usually goes for a walk, sterilization is the best way to avoid unwanted breeding of cat cubs. This practice is also effective in preventing diseases, such as the uterus or ovarian tumours.
In males, it is normal for them to seek to escape and be aggressive with other males if they are not sterilised. Fights can cause health problems. Nor is it uncommon for them to seek to mark their territory, even inside the house, leaving an unpleasant nominee smell.
The most effective solution to not having to endure these problems is castration. This option brings some issues to consider, especially related to diet.
Don’t neglect your diet, let alone after sterilization
Suppose you’ve chosen to sterilise your mining, doughnut forget to control a possible overweight. Castrated cats tend to get fat. In these cases, it will be advisable to feed the feline with a low-calorie feed, although there are also specific foods.
You should also dose the amount of food ingested by the mining well and follow the directions given to you by the veterinarian. So the cat won’t eat more than it used to eat before and won’t continue to gain weight.
Remember that many human-friendly foods are toxic foods for cats, so you shouldn’t take extreme precautions to avoid scares.
To think that industrial food is the best option
We can’t judge anyone by using cat feed as food for our mining. Work, lack of time or lack of knowledge can cause us to choose the simple option: the cat food already made.
However, if we have the time and desire to learn, the best option to feed a cat has always been and will be, natural food. Which consists of eating fresh produce, how they would do it in their wild state.
This natural diet is called the BARF diet(Biologically Appropriate Raw Food) or ACBA(Aliments Crudos Biologically Apropiados).
